Spanish: For grades 1-4, NES offers an exposure program to the Spanish language that will introduce students to key skills for world languages acquisition. Students will learn to interpret meaning from listening, viewing, and reading materials in the target language. They will practice interpersonal communication through the exchange of information and the negotiation of meaning, as well as present personal information, using practiced and memorized words and phrases. In addition to essential language skills, students will acquire understanding of practices and perspectives of different cultures and develop their ability to connect and compare them to their own. This program benefits from engaging activities that include music, videos and digital games in addition to traditional resources. Students receive in person instruction 30 minutes per week.
