Technology/STEAM

Technology: The technology course offered at NES exposes students to concepts such as
problem solving, digital citizenship/privacy, Google applications, computer programming basics,
and keyboarding skills. While many elementary students are already familiar with technology, it
is important to provide them with a structured education in basic computer skills. This ensures
that students have the necessary foundation to thrive in a fast-paced technological world. The
computer literacy that we cover allows students to communicate, collaborate and research more
effectively paving the way for future academic and career success.

STEAM:. STEAM education is an approach to teaching and learning that combines science,
technology, engineering, art and math to guide student inquiry, discussions, and problem
solving. Through STEAM, students are encouraged to be curious learners who seek creative
solutions by taking risks. Students engage in meaningful learning activities that cover a wide
range of topics. Examples include: programming robotics, building rubber band cars,
experimenting with buoyancy, designing inventions using the design process, building circuits,
sphero mini golf, and so much more! 3rd and 4th graders participate in this class once a week.
